Frequently Asked Questions About Bookkeeping & Payroll

Clear guidance on Single Touch Payroll Phase 2, Payday Super, and superannuation deadlines.

How does Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2) work?

STP Phase 2 requires employers to report disaggregated payroll amounts—including ordinary hours, specific paid leave categories, allowances, overtime, and salary sacrifice—to the ATO on or before every employee payday through compliant software like Xero.

What is Payday Super and when does it take effect?

From 1 July 2026, the Australian Government mandates that employers pay their employees' Superannuation Guarantee (SG) contributions on the exact day wages are paid, rather than on a quarterly cycle. We ensure your payroll systems and clearing houses are fully prepared for this landmark shift.

What are the consequences of paying Superannuation Guarantee late?

If SG contributions are not received by an employee's super fund by the quarterly due date, the payment is permanently non-deductible. The business must lodge an ATO Superannuation Guarantee Charge (SGC) statement, paying the shortfall calculated on total wages (including overtime), 10% compounding nominal interest, and administration penalties.

Do you handle Taxable Payments Annual Reporting (TPAR)?

Yes. For businesses in the building, construction, cleaning, courier, IT, and security sectors, we track contractor payments, verify valid ABNs, and lodge the annual TPAR by the statutory 28 August deadline.
